Bom dia. Seguem material complementar e exercícios sobre o conteúdo "Soo, too, either, neither".

Como Usar “So”, “Too”, “Either” e “Neither” Para Concordar Em Inglês

 Você já conhece a maneira mais fácil de concordar com alguém em inglês:

Me too! – Eu também!
Me either / neither! – Nem eu!

Em inglês temos algumas outras maneiras de concordar com alguém e deixar sua fala mais fluente e elaborada.

Como fazer?

Veja este exemplo:

I’m thirsty. – Estou com sede.            Verbo To Be= não tem auxiliar, por isso utilizamos ele mesmo.

Você pode concordar usando o verbo auxiliar – no caso am também porque se trata de “eu” falando.

I am, too.

Ou você pode usar a forma so + verbo + sujeito:

So am I.

Perceba que a inversão do verbo (am) com o sujeito (I) não indica que é uma pergunta, ok?

Vejamos mais alguns exemplos com Verbos Auxiliares.

I can speak English.         Verbo Modal Auxiliar Can (para pedidos e/ou permissões)
I can, too.                          Could - passado do verbo Can
So can I.

I’ll be on vacation next week.              Auxiliar do Futuro Will = Futuro do Presente
I will, too.
So will I.

I have been married for a long time.  Present Perfect = Auxiliar Have/Has + Verbo no Past Partic.(3ª coluna dos verbos irregulares)
I have, too.   
So have I.

I should study more.       Verbo Modal Auxiliar Should (para conselhos)
I should, too.
So should I.

I would like a cup of coffee.      Auxiliar do Futuro Would = Futuro do Pretérito
I would, too.
So would I.

Agora, quando não temos verbos auxiliares (am, is, are, will, would, should, can etc), então usamos do,   does e did, dependendo do tempo verbal em que a frase estiver.

I have a car.
I do, too.
So do I.                   Auxiliar do Tempo Verbal no Presente = do (I, you, we, they) e does (he, she, it)

I like to study English.
She does, too.
So does she.

He went to Paris last year. Auxiliar do Tempo Verbal no Passado = did (para todos os pronomes-sujeito)
I did, too.
So did I.

I forgot my wallet this morning.
He did, too.
So did he.

Concordando na Negativa

Veja como fica quando concordamos na forma negativa (usando o “nem”).

I’m not thirsty.
I’m not either.
Neither am I.

I can’t play soccer.
I can’t either.
Neither can I.

I haven’t seen this movie yet.
I haven’t either.
Neither have I.

I don’t have a boat.
I don’t either.
Neither do I.

I didn’t do the dishes.
I didn’t either.
Neither did I.

Atenção! Neither é a contração de not + either,

Mais exemplos com a negativa:

1. I didn’t drink too much last night.
I didn’t either.
Neither did I.

2. I don’t have to work late tonight.
I don’t either.
Neither do I.

3. I haven’t been studying hard for the English test.
I haven’t either.
Neither have I.

4. I can’t speak three foreign languages.

DICA DE ESTUDO PARA A P2: A) Estudem primeiro somente as orações afirmativas; posteriormente, as negativas. Não estudem as 2 formas ao mesmo tempo.

B) Desconsiderem os exercícos grifados de amarelo. Não estão na 1ª pessoa do singular e não teremos tempo de trabalhar as demais situações.

10.  I’m going to buy a lottery ticket.  So am I. I am, too. (Verbo to be going to = nesse caso o verbo to be funciona como auxiliar)

11.  I will choose the same numbers as before. So will I. I will, too.

12.  I hope I win. So do I. I do, too.

13.  I haven’t won. Neither have I. I haven't either.

14.  I’m not very lucky.  Neither am I. I'm not either.

15.  I need a holiday. So do I. I do, too.

16.  I’m feeling tired. So am I. I am, too.

17.  I don’t like eggs. Neither do I. I don't either.

18.  I couldn’t get up this morning. Neither could I. I couldn't either.

19.  I would love a cup of tea. So would I. I would, too.

20.  I have never been to Africa. Neither have I. I haven't either. Never=advérbio de negação (nunca), por isso utilizamos "haven't" na segunda oração.

21.  I was ill yesterday. So was I. I was, too.

22.  I should smoke less. So should I. I should, too.

23.  I spent the whole evening watching television. So did I. I did, too.

24.  I didn’t know that Ann was in hospital. Neither did I. I didn't either.

25.  He likes horror films. So does my brother./ He does, too.
